Why?

While attending graduate school, every few weeks I would drive the 4 or 5 hours to spend the weekend with my grandparents because my grandpa had dementia and grandma was his primary caregiver. I admired her tenacity in caring for him and the love she showed. With each visit, she and I would sit down and go through grandpa’s medications and the information she had received from various sources. Often, the materials provided were confusing. She would have a list of questions, and I would try to help her. We would also plan what questions to ask his physicians at their next visit.

As a freelance medical writer, it is imperative to produce engaging, accurate medical content to educate both patients and clinicians. I draw upon my experiences as a department chair of an academic institution and medical writer within industry to provide my clients with the best service on time and on budget.

I chose a career in medical writing because I love to learn and to teach. I have written extensively in diagnostic testing, including genetic testing, as well as oncology, cardiology, neurology, and imaging.
